Frequently Asked Questions

What is the age requirement for residents of Verena?

Verena at The Reserve is a Senior Lifestyle Residence for ages 55+.

What fees do I have to pay as a resident of Verena?

There’s just one monthly fee; there are no entrance fees, endowments or buy-ins. New residents will sign a one-year lease and provide one-month’s fee as a security deposit.

What’s included in the monthly fee?

Just about everything! Your monthly fee pays for your apartment, all utilities (except for phone), breakfast and mid-day meal daily, transportation, use of our clubhouse, on-site activities, wellness programs, and twice-monthly housekeeping.

How do I determine if I can afford to live at Verena?

Verena at The Reserve provides apartments for seniors who are looking for independent living options. Verena apartments are both beautifully designed and sensibly priced, especially when compared to other options. When considering a move to Verena, remember that many of your existing monthly costs such as mortgage payments, utilities (gas, electric and water/sewer), association fees, housekeeping, trash pick-up, and fitness membership will be eliminated. Furthermore, since we provide two meals each day, your monthly grocery/dining bill will be greatly reduced. Our Sales Director can provide you with a Comparison Worksheet that will help you review your current monthly costs against the cost of living at Verena. We know you’ll be pleasantly surprised!

What are the fees for a second person?

The second resident living in a unit pays just $550/month.

Are there other amenities or services that require fees?

Most costs are covered. Residents can, however, opt to pre-order and pay for dinner service, or take advantage of our catering services for special events. Certain off-site events may require residents to pay for admission/event costs. Our staff can make arrangements for any services you may need such as linen services, hair appointments or dry cleaning.

Are there any other costs I should consider?

Residents are responsible for phone service. Free Internet access is provided in our Business Center, but residents can make arrangements for Internet access in their apartments. We also strongly recommend that residents purchase a renter's insurance policy to cover personal possessions and liability.

What if I require in-home health care assistance?

We provide access to optional, fee-for-service programs such as home healthcare. These services are contracted between the resident and the home healthcare provider. Our Sales Director can provide you details about these options.

What types of activities are available at Verena?

Our full-time Activities Director will set up fitness and wellness-related programs, as well as ongoing activities in our Arts and Activity Center and Theatre. We fully expect that our residents will help by letting us know what types of activities they want – book clubs, Wii Fit, bridge – you name it. In addition, we will host some offsite cultural activities such as visits to area attractions, theatres, art centers and the like. Residents will pay entry or admission fees for offsite activities that require it. Verena will provide the transportation.

Can I have a car at Verena?

Yes. Verena at The Reserve offers its residents private transportation, but for residents who prefer their own car, they are welcome to park in our free resident parking! We are located within walking distance of some shops, restaurants and grocers.

Can I bring a pet to Verena?

Yes. Pets play an important role in our lives and we encourage those who wish to bring a pet to do so. There are some restrictions, so we suggest that you speak with our Sales Director for details.

Are meals served at set times?

No. Verena provides restaurant style dining – complete with tablecloths, china and flatware. We think you should be able to choose the time you dine, so both breakfast and the mid-day meal are served in a range of times so you can choose the most convenient time for you. And, our Café is open all day for coffee and light snacks.
